Wisteria with Hummingbird Birds
Size. 18”x24” (Sep.2025)
🌸 Wisteria and Hummingbird: Artist Statement
The artistic process for this piece involved an initial background created by sponge-tapping. I then utilized a palette knife with a textured paste to build three dimensional layers for the foliage and blooms. The hummingbirds were rendered using acrylic and reflective (or fluorescent) pigments to capture their brilliant iridescence.
This painting is an intimate reflection of personal experience and passion. My deep admiration for Wisteria blossoms fuels a long-held dream: to cultivate them in my own backyard, visible from the serene perspective of my studio window.
The charming hummingbird—that precious jewel of a bird—served as the direct inspiration. I had the delight of observing one just the day before painting, hovering momentarily outside my studio glass, an encounter that crystallized the vision for this final work.
